ICAR-KVK Gonikoppal, Kodagu celebrated the World Food Day in collaboration with Primary Health Centre, Balele, Virajpet Taluk. On the occasion, activities like planting of medicinal plants, creation of awareness on use of organic inputs in plant health management and importance of nutrigarden in daily diet and their establishment were explained to the gathered participants. Dr. Saju George, Principal Scientist & Head assured to extend all support to establish nutrigarden in the hospital premises and in women farmers kitchen garden. Dr. Ashok, In-charge of the Health centre, also addressed the anganwadi staff and health workers assembled on the occasion and spoke about their importance in daily healthy life.

The KVK scientist team comprising of Shri. Prabhakar SMS(Horticulture), Shri. Devaiah SMS(Horticulture) and Dr. Harish SMS(Agrometeorology) were also present and gave insights on successful nutrigarden establishment where vegetables, fruits plants and medicinal plants are important components. Thirty-one members and officials were present during the programme. Shri Satish Devaiah a prominent social worker in the Balele region also participated in the programme and appreciated the efforts of KVK in popularising nutrigarden in different villages.
