ICAR-KVK Gonikoppal, Kodagu organised the international year of millet 2023, national campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and tree plantation on 17th September 2021. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. Madhu Kumar Forest range officer Kodagu, Karnataka and Dr. Ganesh Prasad, Asst. professor, College of Forestry, Kodagu. Mr. Veerendra Kumar SMS (Plant protection) welcomed all the guest to the programme. Mr. K.A Devaiah Senior most SMS (Horticulture) spoke about the importance of the programme and motivated the participants to include millets in their meals for various health benefits. After lighting of the lamp, Seeds kits were distributed to the present famers and girl students by IFFCO members. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Suresh, SMS(Livestock).

Live telecast of Honourable Agriculture Mr. Narendra Sing Tomar was viewed by the farmers. After the live telecast, plant samplings were planted in the KVK premises and farm. Plant sampling were distributed to the present famers. Famers were given refreshment which included Radi biscuits and Ragi chakli. After the break Dr. Harish, SMS (Agrometeorology) spoke about Nutri-cereals and their role on human health. Later Mr. Prabhakara B, SMS(Horticulture) Spoke on the topic role of nutri-garden on sustainable agriculture & rural livelihood. On the spot Quiz competition was organised for the participants and the winners were awarded. Around 75 girl students (Kannya) and 37 farmers attend the programme.
