ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra,Gonikoppal in collaboration with the JCI Ponnampet (Golden) organised International Women's Day on 8th March 2021 on the theme “Woman in Leadership Achieving an equal feature in a covid' 19 World". The programme was inaugurated by the Chief guest J C Rista, Women wing Chair person, JCI Ponnampet Golden. In her inaugural address spoke on the role and responsibilities of the women in day-to-day activities for overall development of the family. She appreciated the different farmer friendly ongoing activities of the kendra and requested the farm women to avail the programme for empowerment in the field of agriculture, horticulture and allied fields. A women Progressive farmer Cheppudira Neelum Dinu, Kirugoor village was felicitated. She excelled in the field of coffee based mixed farming system. She shared her experience of farming to the gathered 40 women participants.

Ms. Vidyasree, SMS(Horticulture), Extension Education Unit (UAHS), Madikeri delivered a lecture on Importance of Terrace garden for nutritious vegetable and fruits for daily diet and interacted with the women farmers. A debate on Women entrepreneurship in Agriculture and Horticulture and Slogan writing on Women empowerment was organised and the winners were given the prizes. The programme was coordinated by Prabhakar, B, Veerendrakumar,K.V. and Dr. Harish of KVK,Gonikoppal.
