
ICAR-KVK, Gonikoppal organized Kisan Diwas on 23rd Dec 2020 in collaboration with the ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Virajpet taluk. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. P Srinivas, District Development Manager, NABARD, Kodagu District, in his inaugural address appreciated the efforts of the KVK team in imparting farm knowledge among the farming community in the District and will support to organize entrepreneurship programme for interested farmers, farmers associations and SHG groups. Dr. Saju George, Principal Scientist & Head, KVK, Gonikoppal highlighted the importance of the day and KVK will plan a vocational training programme on production, value addition and marketing of mushroom. On the occasion, Smt. Ahraf Unnisa, mushroom entrepreneur, New Farm Fresh mushrooms and Shri. Balakrishna, KVK Skill Development programme trainee who is successfully practicing coffee and Arecanut nursery at Kushalnagar were felicitated during the programme. Shri. Somengada Thimmaiah, Krishi Panditha & Jag Jeevan Ram Awardee shared his innovative farm experiences viz. Bamboo farming, Fish farming, Paddy mechanization to the participants.
Shri. Dilan kumar, Progressive Farmer, Halligattu village shared his experiences of soil fertility management in his farm like liming, benefits of enriched compost application with bio fertilizers, soil test based application of fertilizers. Prabhakar, SMS (Horticulture) given training programme on mushroom cultivation and IIHR –KVK Incubate Smt. Rashmi Bhanuprakash method demonstrated mushroom value addition and ready to fruit bag production. Veerendrakumar, SMS(Plant Protection) welcomed and coordinated the programme. In the programme Smt. Rohini Subbiah, KVK SAC Member, Ms. Mythri, Block Technology Manger, Ms. Likitha, Agricuture Technology Manger of ATMA, fifty farmers and farm women and department officials were present.
