Puthari FPCL with KVK, Gonikoppal successfully conducted an exposure visit to Dr. Viveks estate in Emmedoddi in Kadur on 23rd January 2020. 31 farmers from the Puthari FPO participated in the exposure visit. The team was headed by Shri. Prabhakar of KVK Gonikoppal and Mr. Ponnanna, CEO of the Puthari FPCL. Dr. Vivek have been practicing Arecanut and Black pepper cultivation in 80 acres. Last year got International pepper community (IPC) award for highest black pepper productivity.

During the visit, farmers were taken to the plot and explained the package of practices being practiced and the drip irrigation technique he had adopted for improvement of water and nutrient efficiency apart from yield. The estate showcased the efficiency in growing Arecanut and Pepper as an intercrop in the rain shadow area, receiving a rainfall between 400-600 mm only annually. It was an eye-opening visit to members who were very much interested in replicating the success.
