ICAR-KVK Gonikoppal, in collaboration with Puthari FPO, Coffee Board, NABARD organized - International Coffee Day celebration on 1st Oct 2019, at KVK Gonikoppal. About 70 farmers, field officials of coffee board participated in the function and the seminar organised on the theme “Planters moving nearer to the market with quality coffee”. Shri Srinivas, DDM NABARD, Kodagu, Shri Satish Chandra, DD Extension (Virajpet) Coffee Board, Shri M.M. Chengappa, member Coffee Board participated as guests in the programme. The programme started with playing of Coffee Anthem specially prepared for the occasion by the International Coffee Association. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the guest present.

On the occasion Shri Sathish Chandra, Deputy Director, coffee board spoke on the importance of the day and why it is celebrated the world over. Shri M M Chengappa, member Coffee Board in his inaugural speech highlighted the schemes from the board and the efforts which Coffee Board will be taking to promote coffee consumption. Mr. Srinivas, DDM, NABARD congratulate the staff of KVK and Puthari FPO for the effort to conduct such programmes for creating public awareness. Dr. Saju Gorge Head, KVK presided over the programme. Mr. K.P. Subbaiah, Chairman and Kariappa, vice-chairman presented in brief the business plan prepared on the marketing of coffee and retailing of coffee powder as the future roadmap for Puthari. In the technical session there was a talk on post-harvest management practices for improving quality production in coffee cultivation from Dr. J.S Nagaraja, Head, Post Harvest technology, CCRI, Balehonnur. The whole programme was coordinated by Shri B. Prabhakar.
