ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (IIHR) conducted Tree plantation Campaign and Krishak Gosthi on 17th September 2019 at KVK Athur farm. About 64 farmers and 8 officials from KVK participated in the programme. The whole programme was sponsored by IFFCO cooperative society. Mr. Prabhakara SMS (Horticulture) welcomed the farmers and the officials present at the venue. Mr. Shishira G.K, Area Territorial manager participated on behalf of IFFCO and gave brief account of different IFFCO products and schemes. Head, KVK Gonikoppal gave introductory address about the programme being conducted on the occasion of the birthday of Honorable Prime Minister.

Later technical sessions were conducted and farmers queries on coffee, pepper, paddy and management practices to be followed during coming Rabi season were discussed. Later one Ashoka tree was symbolically planted in the farm campus along with the dignitaries. Farmers were also told about the harmful effects of single use plastic during the occasion. Farmers pledged to plant the 15-20 trees supplied per farmer in their land. About 1000 forest and coffee plants were distributed to the farmer.
