ICAR-KVK Kodagu, in collaboration with the Agriculture Skill Council of India, launched the vocational skill development programme for mushroom grower. The inauguration took place on August 23, 2024, at ICAR-KVK Kodagu, with Dr. M.J. Chandregowda, Principal Scientist ICAR-ATARI, Bengaluru, leading the ceremony. The programme, which commenced with 26 trainees, aims to enhance skills in mushroom growing. Dr. Chandrashekar C, Senior Scientist in Plant Protection at IIHR, Bengaluru, was the chief guest and addressed the attendees about the potential of mushroom cultivation, different varieties, and their significance.
This comprehensive 210-hour course will be delivered twice a week over the coming months. It will cover essential aspects of mushroom farming, including spawn production, cultivation techniques, and marketing strategies. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the exam, trainees will be awarded a certificate by the Agriculture Skill Council of India.
