The Annual Review (2023) & Action Plan meeting (2024-25) Meeting of KVK’s of ATARI, Zone-11, Bengaluru was organized at ICAR-Krihsi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal from 17-19th April 2024. Mr. Bose Mandanna, Progressive Coffee Planter graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He mentioned that due to changing climatic conditions, farmers were experimenting with new crops. Availability of seeds and planting material of new crops needs to be the top priority to meet the farmers demands. He desired that the KVKs would promote cultivation of more varieties of each crop to ensure sustainability under varied biotic and abiotic stress. Farmer-friendly mechanization need to be introduced to overcome labour scarcity. Dr. Dushyanth Kumar, Director of Research, UAHS, Shivamogga and Dr. Madhuprasad, Director of Extension, UAS, Bengaluru were the guests of honour. Both urged the KVKs to show keen interest in choosing latest technologies for assessment, demonstration and further spread of proven technologies in the field of agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and value addition.
Dr. M.J. Chandre Gowda, Principal Scientist, ATARI, Bengaluru, presided the inaugural programme and emphasized the need to keep farmers and their problems in the core of programme planning process. Integrating the scientific knowledge into the Farming Systems in varied agro climatic situations under each KVK was stressed upon for empowerment of farmers and conservation of natural resources. Mr. Prabhakar, Head(I/C), KVK, Gonikoppal welcomed the gathering. Dr. Loganandan, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK, Hirehalli gave the vote of thanks. During the 3 days session all KVK heads presented their work done for the year 2023-24 and action plan for the year 2024-25. On the last day of the programme Dr. Prakash Patil, Director, IIHR Bengaluru graced the occasion and appreciated ICAR-KVK Kodagu team for hosting a well-planned and organised event. Later, two progressive farmers Mrs. Rashmi Bhanuprakash and Mr. Ravi were felicitated during the programme for their contribution towards the farming society. The participants expressed their heart felt gratitude towards the hospitality and arrangements done by the KVK Kodagu team. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
