ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission-Sanjeevini, Government of Karnataka conducted six day training programme on Agro Ecological Practice for Community Resource Persons (Krishi Sakhi) of Farm Livelihood from 19-24th December 2022. The programme was inaugurated by Joint Director of Agriculture Smt. Shabana Sheaikh. Dr. Venkatesh, State Programme Manager highlighted the objective and importance of the programme (Joined online) in the introductory note. In the programme District Programme Manager Mr. Kumar, District Manager Mr. Jagannath, Mr. Yogesh Taluk Programme Manager, KVK Head Devaiah and scientists were present.
During the six days programmes the various topics covered were: Importance of women in agriculture, Communication skills, soil management, water management, different schemes and facilities available in the district for empowerment of SHGs, important crops pests and their integrated management, methods of seed treatment, value addition in turmeric and drumstick crops, packing, labelling and branding of value added products, mushroom production, etc. Field visits and Arka microbial consortium bio-fertilizer production unit lab, soil lab, KVK farm visits were also organized for the participants. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Prabhakara B, SMS (Horticulture). A Total of forty farm women participated in the training programme.
