The spices board-initiated action to implement a project titled “strengthening spice value chain in India and improving market access through capacity building and innovative interventions” in collaboration with Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) and Food Agriculture Organisation (FAO) for sustainable development of spices like cumin, coriander, fennel and Black pepper. Under this programme Spices board conducted an Inter-state exposure visit for black pepper growing schedule Tribe-ST farmers from Araku valley, Paderu, Andra Pradesh to Karnataka.
In this connection KVK Gonikoppal conducted training session on propagation techniques in black pepper on 19th October 2022. In the training programme Mrs. Lakshmi R, senior technical assistant (Field/farm) Demonstrated the propagation of pepper trellis (mother plants) , production of single node pepper cuttings and maintenance of pepper nursery by scientific method to the 32 tribal farmers at ICAR-IIHR KVK farm, Athur.
